Georgia law requires that students be assessed annually
in grades 1-8 via the CRCT in the content areas of
Reading, English/Language Arts, and Mathematics, and in
grades 3-8 in Science and Social Studies.
The CRCT will be based on the Georgia Performance
Standards (GPS) for certain grades and content areas.
The CRCT Content Descriptions have been revised to
reflect the GPS in those grades and content areas.
Purpose
The purpose of the CRCT is to determine if
students have learned the curriculum for their assigned
grades.
Accountability
The CRCT is used in three types of
accountability:
Title I, Federal Funding, No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
School Performance Standards
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) to Meet State and Federal
Regulations
School Report Cards
Promotion and Retention
