February 27-March 3
We will be working on our unit
on wind and weather. This will be kite week so make sure your child has
a kite to fly! We will share kites if you forget so your child's kite might
not be able to come back home. So send in cheap kites please!
Our focus
letter will be "K". In math we are working on combinations of numbers
and writing it in a number sentence. We hope to reach combinations of 9
before the end of the year but we are already there! We are also working on writing our numbers.
This is also the month I will
be doing a great deal of evaluation for report cards and the kindergarten
state test.
March 6- March 10
Dinosaurs
This is the week we will be learning about
land forms, rocks and soil. And of course dinosaurs! We will look
for fossils and make a fossil!
We will also cook donuts For our study on the letter D!
March 13 - March 16
WOW, we have finished our study
on each letter of the alphabet. I am so proud of each child because they
have learned the letters and sounds. This is wonderful for this time of
the year. We are beginning our dictionaries!
Now we will be ready to focus more on our vocabulary words
and sounding out words and writing sentences. We will work a lot on short
vowel sounds in rhyming words like: cat, hat, rat, mat, pat.
This is the week I would like to Celebrate Reading. I would like any parent, grandparent, or friend to come read to our class. Please let me know so I can schedule a time for you. I would love for the children to read one of their favorite books too! You can bring props, dress like your book or anything to make reading fun! Just let me know so we can work in everyone.
March 20 - 31
Space
The children are very excited about this unit. We will take a pretend trip into space! We will make spaceships and talk about the solar system.
April 3-7
Spring Holidays
We are excited about learning how seeds and plants grow when we come back from the holidays. The children will be planting seeds and will watch them grow. If you would like to send in some seeds for us we would appreciate it very much.
