Policies
and other stuff
Checkout: Books are checked out for one week. Books may be renewed if a student does not finish with the
book in one week. When teachers
assign book reports or other projects we can give the student a special due date
that will be the date the report is due. Then
the student will not have to remember to keep renewing his/her book.
Students who need report books can also checkout a book for pleasure at
the same time.
Overdues: Books
are due back at the end of five school days.
We also give students a grace period of an additional ten days.
(We really hate to have to charge an overdue fine.)
We also will send you notices to remind you to return your book.
At the end of the ten day grace period, if you still have not returned
your book, a fine will begin to accumulate until the book is returned, at the
rate of 5 cents per school day. Because
we do not like to charge fines, the highest amount charged for an overdue book
(no matter how late it is) is $1.50. We
do not charge fines to kindergarten and first grade students.
If a book is lost or damaged, we expect the student to pay for the book.
Kids
Keepsake: We
have a library donation program called Kids’ Keepsake Book Club.
We do this once a year, usually in February.
Parents can send money to purchase a book for the media center and we
will place a book plate inside the front cover with the child’s name who donated the book. We offer
suggestions for purchase and we also have books on preview in the media center
that can be chosen. If your child
has a favorite book or author, we can purchase that book if reviews are
available on the book. The media
center has lots of sources for book reviews.
All books must be approved and in library bindings.
