Frequently Asked Questions
How do I
contact my child’s teacher?
Call the school
at 770-254-2860 and the office staff will transfer you to the
voice mail of
your child’s teacher. In order to protect instructional time
teachers will
return messages before and after school. If it is an emergency
the office
staff will be happy to help you. Your child’s teacher can also be
contacted via
email.
What
do I do if my child is absent?
When your child returns to school please provide
a
written note. Remind your child to turn this
note into his teacher at the
beginning of the school day. If your child will
be absent for reasons besides
illness a note should be submitted to the
principal for approval a week ahead
of the time of absence.
Can I pick
up my child?
Please do not
plan to pick up your child until dismissal time. We
value the
instructional day and do not want to interrupt class instruction to
request a
student to come to the office. If you need to schedule health
appointments
for your child please try and arrange for first thing in the
morning and
after school or during early dismissal days. If you need to pick
up your child
during the day please send a note indicating the time and
reason by 2:00
of that school day.

For updates on school closings, please listen to the local news and radio stations.

Changes in transportation can only be accepted in written form. We cannot accept changes in transportation via telephone. Our fax number is 770-304-5927.
You will be asked to provide your child's mode of transportation home daily. The only way that can be changed is through written communication. Many times children tell us that a parent said that they were going to change the way they are going home, but we have no notification from the parent. In that case, we must send the child home the usual way that we were instructed to by the parent.
We will begin dismissing students immediately after the afternoon announcements. Due to the congestion in the halls at that time parents should not be going down the halls until all students have exited the building.
***We will not call down to the rooms for students to come to the front after the dismissal announcements have begun.
***Bus Riders will proceed to the front of the school to board buses. If you want your child to ride home with another student you must send a note in with your child's name, the date, and the name of the child he/she will be riding with.
***Car Riders will proceed to the side of the school. We have numerous car riders and our goal is to dismiss them safely, quickly and efficiently. Car riders will be issued number to facilitate loading of students into cars. Please go to the front office to receive a number if you do not have one. Parents are asked to remain in cars when students' numbers are called. We will help young children into cars if they cannot open the doors by themselves. For the safety and security of the children parents will not be allowed to walk up to the car rider area to pick up their children.
***Walkers will proceed to the Media Center and wait to be escorted to the fence by the playground at the rear of the school if they live in Woodstream. Students who live in Legacy Estates will be escorted to the STOP sign. For the safety and security of the students parents will not be allowed to pick up their students from the front parking lot. Walkers will be dismissed after buses have departed.
***There is to be no parking at the back of the school by the playground until after car rider dismissal.
For the safety and security of the children any person who picks up a child who is not known to the staff will be asked for identification. Students will not be released to anyone who does not have identification or who is not on the student's emergency card.
This plan was put in place by the Safety Officer for Coweta County Schools after viewing our dismissal procedures. Please see Mrs. Sanborn if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate you support. The safety and security of your children is of the utmost importance.
