CRCT week is a most important week in your
child's educational career. Thanks for your
support and in the confidence that you instill
in them that they can do a good job on the
CRCT. The following reminders are vital in
helping students do their best:
-
Get to school on time.
Being tardy makes the day begin in a rush.
Testing is from 8:30 – 10:30
or 11:00 each day.
-
Grades one and two test Monday, Tuesday,
and Wednesday. Grades three, four, and five
test every day.
-
Please have your student at school every
day unless they are sick. Students do not
do as well when they do not test with their
peers.
-
Get up in plenty of time so that you do
not have to hurry.
-
Eat a good breakfast.
-
Do not schedule appointments that interfere
with the testing or so that your child
will have to leave school during the test.
The classroom cannot be interrupted for a
child to leave during testing time.
-
Have your child(ren) wear
something comfortable and an outfit which
makes them “feel good” about
themselves. It instills confidence.
Again, thanks for your support and interest
in your child's education. We can do a better
job of educating them with your help.

Test – taking
tips , like
study skills, are learned over a period of
time and require daily reminders and daily
practice before becoming good, strong habits.
These skills can be taught and reinforced at
school and at home, but this is an on-going
process. At this time of year, when testing
is upon us, we focus on reducing anxiety for
our students. Please take a minute and review
the following tips for reducing test anxiety.
Try to simplify life at home.
-
Be sure that your child gets a good night's
sleep.
-
Provide your child with a good breakfast.
-
Pack a nutritional snack for your child.
-
Give your child ample time to get ready
for school, eat breakfast, and get to school
on time.
-
Provide your child with two No. 2 pencils
for testing.
-
Remind your child that different people
have different strengths.
-
Review with your child any review sheets
sent home for the test.
- Discuss how effort increases success. It
is important for all of us to do our best.

On a lighter note, spring has arrived and
will bring warmer weather. With the warmer
weather the tendency is to wear cooler attire.
Please refer to the handbook in the front of
your child's agenda to the School Dress Code
section on page 20. Sun dresses should also
pass the test for proper length listed in item
6.
If a child is found to be in violation of this
dress code, parents will be called to bring proper
attire for their child. If the parents can not
be reached, we will find some thing for the child
to put on.

News from the Nurse
Some
changes are being made to the State Immunization
requirements. These changes affect next year's
kindergarten children and this year's fifth
grade children. A letter to all parents of
fifth graders was sent home earlier describing
the changes and the deadlines for complying.
If you have not taken care of the new requirements,
please do so soon. Your child will not be allowed
to attend sixth grade next year without proper
immunizations.
If you will be a parent of a kindergartner
please contact the school office with any questions
you might have concerning immunization requirements
for your kindergartener.

Safety
Reminder
Please remember when you visit the school
to come into the office to sign in and pick
up a VISITOR PASS . This is
for the safety of your child(ren) as well as
all of the children and staff and applies to
all times you are a visitor. The VISITOR
PASS should be worn so it can be
easily seen while you are in the buildings.
Please remember to buckle up your children
when you pick them up from school before leaving
the school grounds. Thanks for helping us ensure
the safety of your child(ren) while here at
Western and on their way home. |
