Welcome!
The administration,
faculty, staff, and students welcome you to
Western Elementary School, located in the historic
community of Welcome. Western Elementary has
approximately 450 students in grades Pre-K-
5. The school's mascot is the eagle. Western
is the oldest existing school in the
Coweta County school system - over 110 years
of excellence and tradition. Many of
the parents and grandparents of our students
attended Western.
The school's commitment
to continuous improvement is imperative in
order to enable students to become confident,
self-directed, lifelong learners. Western
has a 4th and 5th grade chorus, and a 5th
grade 4-H Club. K-Kids, sponsored by the
Newnan Kiwanis Club, is available to 5th
grade students. Students earn savings bonds,
money, trophies, and certificates for outstanding
academics, sports, reading, and citizenship.
Former teachers, Western's Alumni Association,
and business partners sponsor various awards.
Western Elementary School is committed to
student success. We work toward achieving
this mission by modeling, practicing, and
supporting the academic, social, and behavioral
skills which foster lifelong learners.
Western school is a very special place.
The community-based atmosphere makes it so.
Through the rich history of Welcome community,
we are positive that Western's rich heritage
can provide the necessary guidance and positive
reinforcement to meet our goals.
We have a real sense of "Family" here.
There are several staff members who are
Western High School alumni. In May, 1994,
Western observed its 100-year celebration.
We have an active Alumni Association
which has members from the class of 1914
through 1973, the last graduating class.
The highest challenge or standard
that Western Elementary School can maintain
must be based on what the school
does for each individual student
and the community that supports it.
