Congratulations to
Mrs. Terry Allison
Western's Teacher of the Year 2008

An interview with Terry Allison:

Terry, where did you grow up?

Before the age of twelve I attended seven different elementary schools in four different states because my father was in the United States Marine Corps.  My family moved when he was transferred to these different states.  From the age of twelve through college I lived in North Carolina.

Where did you go to school?

I received my Bachelors Degree from East Carolina University and my Master's Degree from West Georgia University.

How long have you lived here?

My husband and I moved to Coweta County in 1986.  Last year we built our second home on Handy Road and I began teaching at Western Elementary School in August of 2007.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Teaching is a privilege to me.  My goal is to help students become successful in life in spite of their personal circumstances.  My work in church organizations made me want to work with the upper elementary age group.

What are some of your favorite activities?

When I am not teaching, I love to kayak in the ocean, read and work outdoors in my garden.

Thank you, Mrs. Allison!

Western Elementary School is fortunate to have such a wonderful teacher!
