What's happening in 3rd Grade REACH? We will continue our Interdisciplinary Units in 3rd grade REACH! 3rd grade REACH will study Ancient Egypt! We will study many aspects of life in Ancient Egypt from mummies to pyramids! This will lead us into our Museum unit! This is an incredible interdisciplinary differentiated unit in which we study five periods of art history! We will study the times periods of Ancient Art, the Italian Renaissance, Early American Art, Impressionism, and Modern Art. We will cover famous artists from each period and study the history of each period. Your child will create a portfolio in which art from each period will be represented. A major highlight of this unit is the creation of our own REACH museum that you won't want to miss! We will also read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiller and follow the adventures of two siblings who run away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Accelerated Reader 3rd grade REACH students will set Accelerated Reader goals as part of their REACH expectations! Each student will sign an A.R. contract that includes point goals, book level goals, and an accuracy goal of 85%. Encourage reading for pleasure!
