What's happening in 2nd Grade REACH? In 2nd grade REACH, we begin working on Interdisciplinary Units. In the fall, we will do Bound to Be Round. This is a broad-based interdisciplinary, differentiated unit that offers students an opportunity to investigate the theme of roundness through a study of math, science, social studies, art, language arts, music and literature. In the spring, we will begin our Once Upon a Time unit! This is an exciting interdisciplinary differentiated unit in which we explore Medieval Times through the reading of fairy tales and non-fiction literature. A highlight of this unit is the creation of a Medieval Times non-fiction chapter book, a "trip" through the land of imagination, and the creation of our very own medieval castles! We will also write, edit, and illustrate our own fairy tales!
Accelerated Reader 2nd grade REACH students will set Accelerated Reader goals as part of their REACH expectations! Each student will sign an A.R. contract that includes point goals, book level goals, and an accuracy goal of 85%. Encourage reading for pleasure!
