Recent Accomplishments
- Gave $7000 in classroom grants. Every teacher was given money to purchase items for their classrooms. Examples of items purchased are big book easels, math manipulatives, pull down maps, novel sets, science kits, books, art supplies, headphones for computer lab, Time for Kids subscription, site licenses for Reading A to Z, and so much more!
- Purchased almost $900 of Ellison Dies that are used for classroom projects&learning. A large portion of this purchase was made possible by a $500 donation to the PTA that was specifically intended for Ellison dies.
- Purchased 11 scanners at a cost of approx. $4200 total to be used with AR Math. Before this purchase, the school only had two scanners that were shared among all the teachers. The scanners will be used to assist Welch in making AYP in Math.
- Paid for 50 computers to be upgraded to Windows XP at a cost of $57 each ($2850 total). These computers will be placed in the 3rd-5th grade classrooms so that there will be two student computers in each of those classrooms.
- Paid approximately $850 for volleyball nets and equipment to be used in the gym for Coach Chambless to teach Volleyball Standards.

- Sponsored Meet the Teacher Day Cookout
- Sponsored Donuts with Dad-our biggest crowd yet!
- Sponsored a hugely successful Fall Festival
- Sponsored a Mock Election in late October
- Sponsored a mural in the main hallway, designed and painted by local artists Joyce Revoir and Trisha Adams, with help from artist Phillip Boyd.
- Sponsored the Welch Honor Garden and landscaped the front of each building wing and around the school marquee. This was made possible by a $1400 donation of plants from Infinity Landscaping, a free landscape plan by Catalpa Landscaping and donations from Home Depot, Lowe's, Country Gardens and Andy's Nursery.
- Paid $2500 to help renew Accelerated Reader, Star Reader and Star Math computer programs.
- Paid for magazine subscriptions for children (TIME for Kids, Highlights (2 versions), CobbleStone and two others to be decided by librarian, plus eight academic magazine subscriptions for teachers.
- Paid for two Ken Scott's Magic Show following CRCT week.
- Purchased $895 worth of paper and toner cartridges for use by teachers through the end of the school year.
- Hosted Family Movie Night - Showed "Horton Hears a Who".
Future Goals
- Welch elementary has secured 35 additional computers. However, the software on each computer needs to be updated to Windows XP at a cost of $57 each. The PTA would like to pay for those computers to be updated. If you would like to donate to this cause, feel free to send in a check made payable to Welch PTA and put UPGRADE COMPUTERS in the memo portion of your check.
- Fund many events, such as Movie Nights, Math & Science Night, Muffins with Mom, Veteran’s Day Breakfast and program, Spring Fling, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Volunteer Appreciation Day
- Run the Holiday Shoppe and the Pup Luv Angel Tree
- Prepare the 2009-2010 yearbook
- Provide ice cream for all students on their birthdays and provide AR parties
