Executive Board Responsiblities

President: The PTA President coordinates all activities of the Welch PTA, presides over all general and executive board meetings and serves as the official Welch PTA representative. The PTA President works closely with the principal on a regular basis. A president's signature is required to authorize payment for any PTA expenditure.

Vice President: Membership: The VP is primarily responsible for overseeing the annual membership campaign.

Recording Secretary: The recording secretary is responsible for taking minutes at all general and executive board meetings. Minutes are available on-line. (link to minutes)

Corresponding Secretary: The corresponding secretary is responsible for sending thank you notes, cards, and other correspondence.

Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for preparing the yearly budget, maintaining financial records, reporting on financial status, and ensuring the yearly audit is performed. In addition, the treasurer pays all bills as authorized in the by-laws and is responsible for preparing all required insurance and tax returns and forms on behalf of the PTA.

Historian: The Historian is responsible for maintaining the Welch history book that contains pictures and items from all the events that take place at Welch.

Parliamentarian: The parliamentarian gives advice on parliamentary procedure when requested, reviews and updates the by-laws, coordinates the first meeting of the nominating committee, and assists in coordinating and filling all committee chair positions.

Committee Responsibilities

5th Grade Activities: The 5th grade activities chairperson works with the 5th grade faculty and parents in planning special events, advocating specific educational opportunities, fundraising and field trips for the 5th graders.

Family Involvement: The family involvement chairperson organizes events that encourage parents and grandparents to come to the school for fun family events such as Movie Night, Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, Grandparent's Week, Family Math & Science Night and our yearly Thanksgiving Lunches.

Legislative: The legislative chairperson follows school related issues in our National and Georgia legislative system and keeps the Board informed on those issues. The National PTA and Georgia PTA actively participate in our legislative system to promote the education and well-being of every child.

Newsletter: The newsletter chairperson is responsible for putting together the Paw Post newsletter every month.

Fundraising: The fundraising chairperson organizes and oversees our major fundraising projects, including Innisbrook, Spring Fling, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Spirit Nights and more.

Fall Festival: The Fall Festival chairperson is responsible for coordinating the Fall Festival.

Room Representatives: This chairperson coordinates room reps for all the classrooms. These reps help the teachers all year long and assist the PTA with large-scale projects that include activities in each classroom.

Character, Spiritual & Citizenship Development: This chairperson provides words of wisdom and guidance at the beginning of every PTA meeting.

Hospitality: The hospitality chairperson is responsible for teacher and staff appreciation. This involves coordinating Teacher Appreciation Week and completing projects all year that honor the teachers and staff.

Yearbook: The yearbook chairperson is responsible for researching yearbook companies, organizing and distributing the yearbook.

Child Care Coordinator: This chairperson is responsible for coordinating childcare for PTA events and meetings.

Community: This chairperson is responsible for going out into our community and encouraging local businesses to support Welch by acting as Business Partners. Business Partners offer donations, discounts or special programs to our school, the PTA and the families of Welch.

Volunteer Coordinator: The volunteer coordinator is responsible for rounding up volunteers to assist with events and activities.

Parent Education: The family education chairperson organizes events that are meant to teach/enlighten our families on current topics of concern pertaining to our families at Welch Elementary. They are short segments (20 minutes) immediately following our general PTA meetings. This year's topics are as follows: Student Support Team, Fire and Emergency Preparedness, Discipline Alternatives, Internet Safety/Stranger Danger, CRCT nights, CPR and Babysitter classes, and Summer Programs for students.
