  • Calculators On-Line Center or Calculator.com. If you run the gas out of your calculator's batteries, use the   online calculators  to double check your work
  • Ask Dr. Math Elementary grades and up. Email help available.
  • MathMagic  is a K-12 telecommunications project developed in El Paso, Texas. MathMagic posts challenges in each of four categories (k-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12) to trigger each registered team to pair up with another team and engage in a problem-solving dialog. When an agreement has been reached, one solution is posted for every pair.
  • Math Exercises  gives introductory, intermediate and advanced math questions from square roots to trigonometry. Answers are provided.
  • Math Forum's Algebra Links
  • Mathematician's Biographies  has short to long biographies of mathematician's worldwide. You can search by name, time period, and there's a special section for women mathematicians. Grades 4 and up.

  • Web MD
  • The American Medical Association  has, among other things, information about the latest health research, and articles from JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) and other medical journals.
  • KidsHealth  from the American Medical Association has information about basic first aid, childhood illnesses, and definitions -- in very easy to understand language.
  • Mayo Clinic's Health O@sis  in an online library of information on health topics such as Alzheimer's, heart disease, diet, substance abuse, etc. It has its own search engine, too. Groovy ;)

  • Bartlett's Familiar Quotations lets you search by word or phrase, or browse through an alphabetical listing of the principal authors represented.
  • Inaugural Addresses of the United States Presidents  from Washington (1789) to Clinton (1997). Includes a bit of biographical information on Presidents who were not inaugurated and didn't have a chance to make a speech. (Maybe there should have been more like that, eh?)
  • Gifts of Speech  an extensive collection of speeches by contemporary women from Bella Abzug to Jody Williams. (Quick quiz: who was Jody Williams? Winner of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in banning the use of land mines.)
