Simple Machines

EVERYTHING you need to know about simple machines!!!!!!

If you don`t know it.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................We do!!!!

I made my webpage based on the Georgia Performance Standard Below

S4P3. Students will demonstrate the relationship between the application of a force and the

resulting change in position and motion on an object.

a. Identify simple machines and explain their uses. (lever, pulley, wedge, inclined plane,

screw, wheel and axle)

b. Using different size objects, observe how force affects speed and motion.

c. Explain what happens to the speed or direction of an object when a greater force than

the initial one is applied.

d. Demonstrate the effect of gravitational force on the motion of an object.

Machines that are simple!!!!!!!!!                                                                                                                                     Even a baby can learn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are two families of simple machines: the inclined plane family and the lever family.

There are six classes of simple machines: the wedge, the wheel and axel, the pulley, the screw, the ramp, and the lever.

The inclined plane family contains the wedge, ramp, and the screw.

The lever family contains the lever, the pulley, along with the wheel and axel.

INCLINED PLANE FAMILY HOW THEY HELP US
WEDGE They can hold doors open for us when we are carrying large objects.
RAMP They can help us get heavy objects onto a higher platform.
SCREW The screw helps us hold buildings, houses, and much more together.
lever family HOW THEY HELP US
LEVER

The lever helps us turn on lights and a seesaw works like a lever.
PULLEY

The pulley can help us move heavy objects such as huge rocks that get in the way.
WHEEL AND AXEL

If it weren't for the wheel and axel, our cars would not be able to move anywhere.

What can these simple machines do?

Simple machines are very useful to us. They help us with many things. A ramp can help us get our cars onto a platform. They help us get our dirt bikes on trailers or the back of a truck. The pulley helps us move things that humans can't. An example of a pulley is a crane. They help us move big rocks and other huge things. The screw helps us build buildings and many more helpful things. The lever allows us to turn lights on and lets us have fun on seesaws and much more. The wheel and axel lets our cars move. This helps us a lot!  When you need to get something inside your house that takes two hands to carry and nobody is around to open the door, the wedge could come in handy. It can hold the door open for you.

These machines aren't very easy.             These machines are simple!
