Persian Gulf War
By Collin J.
About the war
On August 1990 Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, tried to take Kuwait for its oil. Kuwait provides 10 percent of the world's oil. The Americans, led by president George Bush and 33 other countries, were fighting against Saddam. Saddam attacked Kuwait shortly after midnight on August 2. About 150,000 Iraq troops invaded Kuwait. By dawn Iraq had complete control of Kuwait. In 100 hours American troops had gotten to Kuwait. American troops and the 33 other countries were dominating Iraq. American forces were giving Iraq twenty four hours to withdraw their forces. The U.S. began pulling plows over trenches burying their occupants alive. In January 1991 the United States Congress let our army drive Iraq out of Kuwait with military forces. The cost of the war for the United States was 61.1 billon dollars.
When the war was over the United States reached world superpower. After the war there were some changes and some things stayed the same. After invading Kuwait Suddam Hussein still remained the president of Iraq. The Persian Gulf war was said to be the four bloodiest days of our nation's history.
