Pearl Harbor

At Pearl Harbor ships could be repaired or refueled. This base was set up for submarines and planes that could land on aircraft carriers. Twenty-one vessels were sunk, 200 planes were destroyed, and 3,000 military personnel were killed on December 7, 1941. It was not a good day for the Americans. But now we remember the people who died by visiting The Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Japan's strategy
Japan's strategy was to have a sneak attack to try to take out as many planes and ships as possible. They had submarines there to launch torpedoes after the planes got there. Japan had two waves of planes. Some had bombs and others had missiles.
America fights back
America did pretty bad during the battle. All they managed to do is shoot down 29 planes, destroy 4 submarines, and capture 1 submarine.
America's injuries and survivals
America survived by still having a few aircraft carriers that were not in the port. Fuel stations and submarine bases were still standing. But Japan won the battle because they destroyed 21 vessels, 200 planes, and 3,000 personnel.
