Cats

INTRODUCTION
I've always loved cats and I thought it might be fun to make my web page on all types of cats. They have always fascinated me by their grace and power.
Cats
La gatas, el gatos, 'gatas', and mitseys in any language you say it still means the same thing...CATS.
Some people think that cats are just small house animals used to keep all rodents and pests out of your house. If you think that, then you are wrong. Cats can be any color, white, black, brown, or gray. Cats are playful domestic animals who just happen to like to play with rodents and pests. Have you ever watched a cat play with a bug? It's funny to watch them react to their instincts. Fully grown house cats weigh from seven pounds to thirty pounds. The bigger cats you see at the zoo like a tiger weighs a few hundred pounds! There are only seven different kinds of cats listed on my web page, but there are many more than that.

Cheetah
I bet you already know that cheetahs are the fastest animals in the world. One of the main things they use for running is their long legs. They live in Africa and formerly Asia. Of all four-footed animals cheetahs are the swiftest. They are often run down and trained for game (foul play!). Cheetahs are beautiful animals but, like all other animals we need to work to keep them on our planet.

Cougar
Cougars are large powerful members of the cat family. They have brownish yellow fur. They are widespread in the Americas. No longer are they found in many areas because of humans. Their main name is cougar, but you might know them as mountain lion, puma, catamount, and panther. Cougars might look cute but they don't act cute. Some cougars have been known to attack people. If you live in the mountains and see a mountain lion, act dead. If you trick a cougar into thinking you're dead, they won't try to kill you. Here's a little hint, you don't have to be faster than the cougar...just faster than the guy behind you.
Jaguar
A large black-spotted brownish yellowish tropical cat of America, the jaguar is an unusual animal. Some people might mix up by telling you that a jaguar is a car, but a jaguar has two different meanings. One meaning is a cat, and the other meaning is a fine and expensive car. The jaguar has a more solid build and is longer than the leopard.
Leopard
They are strong large cats of Africa and southern Asia. Their coat is a brownish color with black spots that are arranged in broken rings. I bet you didn't know that the cheetah, panther and the snow leopard are the same thing as the leopard? Female leopards look like male leopards. Leopards are spotted beauties with sharp teeth. They have a dark brownish mane.

Lions Lions are another large carnivore which is part of the cat family [obviously]. Do you remember the Lion King movie? It took place in Africa where many lions live. Africa isn't the only place where lions live. They live in rocky areas of southern Asia too. Male lions have manes, the fur on their neck/head. If you see a lion at the zoo or in the wild without a mane, it is a female lion. Did you know that if the male lion was eating and any of the lions got in his way, then he might kill them? I wouldn't want to dine with him, would you?

Tigers
Tigers are huge Asian mammals that eat meat. They're called carnivores [meat-eating animals]. A male tiger can be as long as ten feet and can weigh several hundred pounds! Their hair is orange to light brown with black stripes. Their teeth and claws, used for slicing up food, are very large. Tigers are beautiful cats but, like all other animals, we have to take global responsibilities to prevent extinction.
