Bows!

Longbows were made from one large piece of wood as big as the archer.  They were usually used on the castle walls. The archer needed excellent to use the bow.

The crossbow was invented in china, but it soon became popular in medieval Europe.  To load this bow, you have to first pull the string till it latches, then put the arrow in the slot and pull the trigger.

Today bows are very popular.  They are used for hunting and lots of other fun stuff !

Catapults are big machines that are meant to hurtle rocks, spears, and other large objects. In medieval times they were made of wood. They were made up of wooden wheels that are attached to the wooden body. The catapult has a device called a launcher that looks like a spoon. Three or more men work the catapult by pulling down the lever and then latching it to a hook. There is a lever that you pull after you aim.

Other Weapons

Another weapon is the mace. It has a two-foot long handle which has a spiked ball attached to the end of the handle.  A similar weapon  is called the morning star.  The only difference is that it has a chain with the spiked ball attached to it.

The spear is a long stick that has a blade on it. It is used for throwing or jabbing. A similar weapon is the lance. It is used for games such as jousting.
