Steam Engines And Trolleys
By: Brandon W.

Like all steam engines they are powered by steam. The first steam engine was built in 1804 by Richard Trevithick, but it was so slow a horse could go faster than it could go. Opened in 1830 the Liverpool and Manchester Railway is where the Rocket worked. The Rocket was built by George Stephenson. In 1829 it was designed by Briton Robert Stephenson. I'm sure you all know about Casey Jones. He was a very famous railroad engineer who sacrificed his life for the passengers on his train. He was late and he sped up his train and started to go faster at 100 miles per hour when another train crossing the track burst its air hose and immediately stopped on the track. Then Casey came charging in and Casey tried to stop. His train had been going too fast he and couldn't stop it. He told his fireman Sid to jump but he refused to but when he yelled for Sid to jump he did. A few seconds later his train had smashed into the other train. Casey Jones was only one who died in the wreck. The steam engine's number was the 382. These are some pictures of steam engines that I thought were cool. Please look at these interesting pictures of steam engines. Thank you !

The Steam Engine uses steam caused by the fireman shoveling coal into the fire box and heating the water in the boiler, in which the steam going into the cylinder and causing the piston rod to go in an up and down side to side motion, which causes the turn.

Trolleys
Trolleys were first pulled by horses. The first trolley was built in Australia.
Trolleys work by an antenna on the top of the trolley that's touching an overhead wire in which generating power to the trolley causing it to move.

This is a trolley trailer. It looks like a trolley on the outside but.... is luxurious on the inside. pretty sweet huh ?
