2011 State of Georgia Assistant Principal of the Year

Dr. Aaron Corley was recently honored by two different statewide educational leadership associations. He was named a 2011 Georgia Association of Middle School Principals (GAMSP) Exemplary Leadership Award recipient and was just named as the 2011 State of Georgia Assistant Principal of the Year by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP).

GAMSP is the organization of and state voice for middle grades school principals, assistant principals, and aspiring school leaders in Georgia, while GASSP serves the same purpose for both middle and high school educational leaders. GAMSP and GASSP are two of six educational leadership organizations aliated with the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL). These state-level awards recognize outstanding educators, who, through their vision and leadership, have contributed to higher educational standards that positively impact middle level education.

Dr. Corley has been in an educator in the Coweta County School System for the past ten years. He has served as an elementary school teacher and as an administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels. For the past ve years, Dr. Corley has served as the Curriculum Assistant Principal at Smokey Road Middle School.

Dr. Corley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in School Leadership from the University of West Georgia. His dissertation on the motivations, experiences, and challenges of male elementary school teachers won the Spring 2010 Phi Delta Kappa West Georgia Chapter Research Award.
