Sharon Fowler - 8th grade Literature Following a 24 year nursing career, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. As a student, I was an officer in the International Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, and received the Lion's Club Scholarship for "Outstanding Special Education Student of the Year." After my 1996 graduation from YSU, I accepted a teaching position with the Coweta County School System and moved to Georgia. From 1996 to present, I teach academics at the middle school level. During this time, I noted children who read fluently perform better in all aspects of school. Reading is a necessity in order to survive in today’s world. My passion in literature and desire to reach and motivate the struggling readers gave me the incentive to pursue my education. In July 2005, I graduated with a 4.0 and received my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. |
