Quick Start Guide for Students and Parents

REMINDER: 8th grade students must pass the Reading/Language Arts and Math portions of the CRCT to be promoted to the 9th grade.

Getting Started
1. Be sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.
2. To access the Online Assessment System , go to the following address:

https://www.georgiaoas.org

3. Students will be provided with login information at school. Login information can not be posted on the website.
4. Here is a copy of the Student Quick Start Guide. (This is a PDF file.)

PARENTS: To access generic OAS tests by grade level, you can log on to the website using the following:

Taking Student Tests
Note
: These tests are automatically assigned to the student by the Online Assessment System.

1. From the Student Welcome Page , click Student Tests.
2. Choose a subject area (e.g., Math) from the list of available subjects.
3. Select the available student test, then click Take Test .
4. Click Next Question to advance to the next questions.
5. Click Grade My Test once all questions have been answered, then click OK .
6. View the test results.
7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to save the test results.
8. Click Return Home to return to the Student Welcome Page .

Taking Teacher-Assigned Tests
Note
: These tests are created and assigned by the teacher. There may not be any teacher-assigned tests available.

1. From the Student Welcome Page , click Teacher-Assigned Test .
2. Select a test from the Test List Page , then click Take Test.
3. If needed, click Next Question to advance to the next questions.
4. Click Grade My Test once all questions have been answered, then click OK.
5. View the test results, if available.
6. Click Return Home button.  

Viewing Test Results
1. From the Student Welcome Page , click Student Tests (or Teacher-Assigned Tests if your child has completed any teacher-assigned tests).
2. Click the subject area for the test you would like to view and then click See Results . (If you are in the Teacher-Assigned Tests , you will just click See Results.)
3. A list of tests that have been scored will be shown. Click on the test that you want to view and then click See Results.
4. Click Close to close the Test Results Page and return to the list of tests.
5. Click Back to return to the test list.
6. Click Back again to return to the Student Welcome Page.
7. Log out.

You have the opportunity to "sign up" for this website for a fee if you are insterested in using it for home use with your students.
This website offers many short practice tests for each grade level and subject.

  • Go to http://www.linkstolearning.com .
  • Click on the state of Georgia .
  • Username: cowetaga (If you register, you will be given a new username.)
  • Password: preview (If you register, you will be given a new password.)
  • Click on the link “Click here to access quizzes.”
  • Click on “CRCT Test Prep.”
  • Click on your grade.
  • Click on your subject.
  • You will see a selection of several tests with a brief description of each. Select the test you want to take.
  • The test page will open and you will need to fill in your name and your parent's email address.
  • Take the test.
  • Click “Score” to see the results of your test.
  • Your score and a copy of the test will automatically be emailed to your parent's email address.

Georgia Department of Education
This website contains released test forms for the CRCT from the following years: 2000, 2001, and 2002. All CRCT forms are posted intact, just as students saw them with the exception of items used for linking or field test purposes.

  • Go to http://www.gadoe.org .
  • Click on “Curriculum” at the top of the page.
  • Scroll down until you see the “Testing” and click on the link.
  • Click on the link “Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT).”
  • In the blue box labeled CRCT Resources located on the right side of the screen, click on “Released Test Forms.”
  • Click “Open” when the pop-up dialog box appears.
  • Read the information provided.
  • Scroll down and click on any test you wish to preview or use as a practice.

The NAEP Questions Tool provides easy access to NAEP questions, student responses, and scoring guides that are released to the public. Both national and state data, where appropriate, are presented.

Test Taking Tips from SRMS

  • Throughout the year:
    • Come to school
    • Participate in class
    • Ask questions
    • Do your homework
    • Study
  • The day of the test:
    • Get a good night's sleep
    • Don't skip breakfast
    • Come to school and arrive on time - try not to miss school on test days
    • Have a positive attitude
    • Be prepared - if your teacher tells you to supply your own #2 pencil, be sure you have 2 pencils sharepened and ready to go
  • Taking the test:
    • Read the directions carefully
    • Read each question carefully
    • Relax and take a deep breath - try not to worry or panic
    • Eliminate answers you know are wrong
    • Mark the BEST answer for the question
    • Use a separate piece of paper to calculate math problems
    • Pace yourself and do not rush but also don't spend too much time on any one question - move to the next question and come back to any question you skipped after you finish
    • Double check your answers
    • Do your best!
