Activities at Ruth Hill

Honors Art

Students in 4th and 5th grades who are highly interested in art may prepare art portfolios to be reviewed by our art teacher, Mrs. Heather Corley.  Selections for membership are based upon ability and attitude.  The Honors Art Club meets weekly throughout the school year after school hours.

Yearbook

Honors Chorus

Students who are highly interested in music and performance may audition for this select choral group.  Our music teacher, Ms. Tiffany Brown, holds auditions for all interested students in 4th and 5th grades.  Selection into the Honor Chorus is based upon ability and attitude.  Honor Chorus meets weekly throughout the school year after school hours.

CRCT Family Night

In early spring, parents and students of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are invited to a special night of CRCT focus and practice. Parents are given a whole group explanation of the CRCT by the Principal. Then they rotate from their child’s classroom (where they take a practice test with their student) to a computer lab (where they practice on-line test questions using OAS and Skills Tutor). Both of these programs are available for practice at home.

Grandparent’s Day Breakfast

Near Grandparent’s Day each year, our Parent Involvement Committee organizes a special breakfast for the Grandparent’s of our students. The Grandparent’s enjoy this opportunity as much as the children.

Red Ribbon Week

“Saying No to Drugs” is celebrated by the entire school to represent how proud we are that we are a Drug Free Campus. In October each year, students and staff participate in Red Ribbon Week to announce their commitment to staying drug free. Students dress up each day that week to show their support of this program. Some of our students in the picture are “tying up drugs”.
