Welcome To Our Counselor’s Corner

Poplar Road Elementary School is fortunate to have Ms. Lutricia Jones, who offer an in-depth support system to faculty, students, and parents.

As the School Counselor I provide leadership in the local school through the implementation of developmental, prevention, and crisis intervention programs designed to further the development of children. The Four Major Tasks of a School Counselor are:

1.	Establishes and implements and school-based guidance plan.
2.	Conducts personal counseling with students in areas of need that affect their school performance.
3.	Consults with school staff, parents, and community recourses.
4.	Coordinates educational and social programs based on students needs.

Some of our goals as Poplar Road’s School counselor are:

• To create a safe and happy atmosphere for all of our students.
• To help students understand themselves and others.
• To identify children with special needs and facilitate the appropriate intervention/resources.
• To begin the career awareness within each student.
