2005 Varsity Cougars
Coach: Jason Weidert
Newnan Men's Soccer begins their 2005 season with the goal of making their fourth straight appearance in this year's state tournament. The Cougars are going to be young this year only returning three starters from last year's Final Four State Playoff Team, however the Cougars have added some impact players from their successful Junior Varsity program. Jason Weidert will once again be coaching the Varsity Team and will be aided by Junior Varsity coach Nathan Watts.
The Cougars will be fielding eight seniors this season: Capt. Yancey Flynn, Capt. Kyle Sherman, Stephen Hammond, Greg Dew, Seth Duncan, Josh Neese, Sean Boggs, and Kevin Kookogey. Coach Weidert is also expecting juniors Stan Soulen, Alex Scott, Philip Barnette, Devin Schleif, Jay Williams, Henry Jackson, and Michael Aletraris to have a large impact on the teams' performance. The Cougars will also be sparked by the skill of sophomores Charles Peterson, Ryan Moser, Ray Cornay, Josh Stripling, Frank Berry and Christian Allegood. Newnan will have their goal protected this year by Senior Greg Dew..
With experience, new young talent, and the best fans in Georgia, the Cougars are striving to have another successful season, and make their fourth straight State Playoff berth.
