General World History Syllabus
World History is a course designed to help you understand the journey of the human race from the dawn of civilization to the present day. This course will briefly touch on various regions of the world and the important events that occurred within these regions. Throughout this course we will strive to feel and understand the romance, tragedy and triumphs of the human race.
Grades: Group Grade 15% Homework 25% Quiz Grades 10% Tests 30% Nine Weeks Test 10% Participation 10%
Group Work: Group work is a large part of a student's grade in my World History Class. Group activities teach students how to work in a team setting and how to be responsible for their individual performance on the tasks within the group. Students will be evaluated while working in groups by the group rubric that I have established. This rubric allows me to hold each individual student accountable for their group’s performance.
Homework: Homework will be assigned three to four days a week. Students will typically have 10 minutes at the end of class to work on their assignment; whatever is not completed in class must be completed at home. Homework is due the following day (unless otherwise noted) and should be placed in the appropriate box when you come into to class. Students will be charged a 5 point reduction for every day the assignment is late.
Quiz Grades: Quizzes will be given at random throughout the course and will ALWAYS be given the day after a Unit Test and will include the most basic knowledge of the Unit. Students receiving a 90 or above on the Unit Test that corresponds with the Quiz will get an automatic 100 on the Quiz. Tests: - Students will be given a review sheet before every test. This review sheet will tell students EXACTLY WHAT WILL BE ON THE TEST! - If a student scores below a 70 on any test, they are then required to get that specific test signed by a parent or guardian. If the test is not signed within 5 school days, I will place a call home, and the student will lose an additional 5 pts off their test grade. Participation:
Once a student accumulates 5 Participation Checks (Bell work and Sleeping combined) that student will lose the opportunity to make-up work!!!! This excludes work missed by an approved absence.
