Sacrificing for America Again!!

May 16, 2008

Sponsored by the
Newnan High School History and Social Studies Department

Col. Joe Jackson, MOH recipient from Newnan, with WWII veteran Grover McMichael

On May 16, 2008 more than 80 local veteran's came in and visited with our students and helped the teachers help the students see the significance and relevance of history- they helped us "bring history to life." Included in the group was Col. Joe Jackson, Medal of Honor recipient from Newnan...the NG armory that we were in was named after him!! The veterans' were fed a breakfast of eggs, sausage, grits, biscuits and gravy when they arrived at the National Guard Armory- a way for us to thank them for their service! They then proceeded to WOW our students with their teaching!

Special thanks for this event go to a number of people....

Principal Doug Moore- rented the tables for us and saved our backs!!

Assistant Principal Steve Allen- was a huge help with the breakfast! Love that gravy!

Sgt. Blackshear and the National Guard Staff- what can we say that we have not already said?

Frank Henderson- Assistant Manager and head breakfast cook. Great job and many good ideas!

Linda Fields, Angie Whitlock and Susan Quesinberry- where would we be without you?

Whitney Black- my personal photographer and technology manager...don't go to college Whitney!!

Nicole Burham- my business manager...my personal fortune is in her hands!

Julianne Wyrick- Going to my alma mater- Asbury College! Yeah!

Thanks also go out to the following students that went way beyond the call of duty- Nicole Heard, Tori Bales, Sam McCloud, Cecile Fowler, Shake-n-Bake, Lauren Stone, Tyler Archer, Mallory Gray and the students of Quesinberry's and Henderson's classes that brought most of the food!!!
