Introduction
The History and Social Studies Department at Newnan High School has a long tradition of excellence. Staffed by sixteen dedicated teachers, most with graduate degrees in the field, Newnan High School offers varied and challenging courses to students of all ability levels. In addition to the subjects that all Georgia students must pass, we offer numerous electives to students that would like to pursue additional coursework in our field of study. Introduction to Law, Psychology, Sociology, Vietnam War and World War II are classes all contained in this department. Several AP classes are offered (U.S. History, European History, Comparative Government, Human Geography, Economics) with more to come. Test scores on the Graduation Test (GHGST) and End of Course Tests (EOCT) are excellent, and work is continually being done to improve. The department is committed to an aggressive technology initiative that involves projectors and accompanying media, as well as wireless tablets and interactive remotes and responders. Interaction with the community through innovative events such as the State Court in Schools and Online Mock Elections have been held. Local community leaders come into the classrooms during Civics Week each October and numerous local Veteran's are hosted for history classes at the end of each term. We are always looking for ways to "bring our subjects to life..."
This site contains valuable information on the classes and programs offered. A short biography of each teacher is available as well as the syllabus for each class that they teach. Each teacher's email and class website can be located here. Feel free to browse our testing plan or view pictures from the most recent Veteran's Day at Newnan High School. If there is information that you need that is not available from this site, please email the Department Chair.

This event was a "preview" for the World War II Heritage Days in Peachtree City April 24 and 25. For more information on this event, please take the following link:
