Graduated from Jacksonville State University.

Has been teaching for 42 Years in Alabama and Georgia.

Coached football at the assistant level for 39 years and was head coach at Oxford for 3 years.

Enjoys golf, woodworking and reading in his spare time.

Syllabus- U.S. History

Course Description: This course is a survey of U.S. History beginning with exploration and Native Americans and continuing through current events.

 

Course Objective: Students should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of U.S. History according to the adopted course standards of Coweta County and the State of Georgia.

 

Expectations and Rules:

1. You must be in class ready to begin work when the tardy bell rings. Any student standing outside of the classroom will be considered tardy.

2. Come prepared to class everyday. You must have your book, notebook, pen or pencil, paper, and agenda book.

3. Have your textbook covered. Do not use sticky shelf paper.

4. If you use a pen, use either blue or black ink. Do not use a red pen.

5. Do not get up during class without permission.

6. There is no eating, drinking, or chewing gum in this classroom.

7. No one goes to the restroom during instructional time, testing, class participation, or group work.

8. Do not talk, pass notes, sleep, or anything else you know you aren't supposed to do. Behave like your mother or father is standing over your shoulder watching you.

9. Any other rules or procedures that are deemed necessary may be enacted during the semester.

 

Attendance: Good attendance is expected and required. If you're not here, you can't and WON'T pass.

 

Make-up Work: Make-up work is your responsibility. Please check the designated area in class to get your make-up work. You have THREE days to make up work from an excused absence. Unexcused absences get you zeroes. Any previous assignment, including a test, is due upon returning to class. If you miss the day of a major test, it will be made up upon returning to school.

Grading Requirements: You will be given tests, quizzes, maps, projects, etc. based on world history and geography. All of this will total 80% of your grade by the end of the term. The final exam will count as 20% of your grade.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is a college course of European History beginning with the end of the Middle Ages and tracing the development of civilization through the present day.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: Within each topic we will be covering the political, military, social, and philosophical history of that era. We will use the art, literature, and music to show changes in society and the philosophy of that era.

Each topic will be divided into political and military history followed by social and philosophical history. Students will be expected to show knowledge by using critical thinking skills in answering questions based on research.

EXPECTATIONS AND RULES:

 9. DO NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WILL  KEEP ANOTHER STUDENT FROM LEARNING.

10. Any other rules or procedures that are deemed necessary may be enacted during the semester.

MATERIALS: Books: The Western Heritage and A History of Western Society

GRADING REQUIREMENTS: You will be given tests, quizzes, maps, essays, and D.B.Q.'s based on European history and geography. All of these will total 80% of your grade by the end of the term. The final exam will count as 20% of your grade. The grading scale is a weighted scale with each grade carrying a different value. At the end of the grading period, some grades may be excused based on the number of grades.
