Our vision is to ensure the success of each student.

ACTIVITIES/CLUBS:

Academic Teams: Congratulations to our Varsity team on their fourth place finish in the state tournament. Top point getters were Carson Davis, Caleb Perry, Peyton Salyards, and Angel Shumake. The JV team took home fifth in the state with their top point getters: Ryan Potts, Davis Adams, and Cambrie Salyards.

Art Dept: Congratulations to Violet Quiroz for winning a Silver Key for her drawing in the 2017 Scholastic Art Awards.  Violet's work will be recognized at Savannah College of Art & Design in their March 11 exhibit.

CEC Film Production Club: Meeting Wednesday, 2/15 in CEC’s room 506 at 4:20 p.m. We encourage all new and returning members to attend.

FCA: The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Thursday morning at 7:50 a.m. in the AV room! All are welcomed to attend.

National Honor Society: Next regular meeting is tomorrow, 2/14 right after school in the Main Café.

PROM: Juniors and seniors may start paying PROM fees to Mrs. Sweet in room 108. The current fee is $55 for juniors/seniors and $50 for “dates” who are not juniors/seniors at NHS.

ROTC: All cadets who are not participating in reserves need to return his/her uniform by Tuesday, 2/14.

STEM Internship: Rising juniors and seniors who are interested in participating in a STEM internship next year should pick up an application from Mrs. Hurston in room 1106. Due by 2/17.

Valentines: Please be aware that we will NOT ACCEPT Valentine’s deliveries during the school day on Valentine’s Day from either florists or friends/family.


ATHLETICS:All paperwork must be completed and turned in to the coach to try out for ANY sport.

Fall Cheerleading: Students interested in trying out for fall cheerleading may pick up a packet in the Principal’s office or the Athletic office. Tryouts begin 2/27.

Boys Soccer: Our teams had a good start with a pair of wins in their openers. The JV boys defeated East Coweta 2-0 with goals from Grant Whitaker and Justin Sanchez. A shutout was posted by goalie, Ashton Bone. The Varsity boys defeated Alcovy 5-3 with a hat trick from Matthew Crow and additional goals by Mills Briggs and Giovani Enriquez.


COUNSELING:

Georgia State University: If you are interested in, or have applied, to Georgia State, please stop by the Counseling office for more information.

Special Testing: To sign up for these tests see Mrs. Sweatman in the Main Counseling Office.
               
Accuplacer: 3/1, Main Café           ASVAB: 3/7, Main Cafe

SAT Seminar: The seminar is today and tomorrow, 2/13-14, in room 1150, 3:45 – 6:15 p.m.


FUND RAISERS:

Music Dept: Purchase a Domino’s Slice the Price card for only $10 and get any number of large pizzas FREE when you purchase the same number.   Buy 2, Get 2 – Buy 10, Get 10!!!
Good through 12/31/17. Get yours from any music department student while you can!


SENIORS:

Cap & Gown Orders: The current price is $82 (checks payable to Balfour). You may place your order in the Counseling Office.

New Scholarships: Drop by the Counseling office and check out the scholarship wall for new scholarships!

Senior Signature T-shirts: Senior signature t-shirts are now available to order. Pick up an order form from the Principal’s Office or Mrs. Hodges in room 912, or check your school email account. Deadline to order is 2/17.


TESTING:

AP Testing: Students may start signing up to take their AP test with Mrs. Pat in the 100 Office. Payment (cash or check) needs to be made when signing up. Any student who has a question or need regarding payment should make sure to see Mrs. Pat as soon as possible. Please do not wait until the last minute!


YEAR ROUND:

Parking: If you park anywhere in the perimeter of NHS you must have a current parking pass which is sold in the 100 Office. To avoid getting a ticket you must also be parked in a legal parking spot. All numbered spots, areas in front of gates and dumpsters, and grass are off limits to students. The gated parking area across from the 9th grade parking lot is federal property. You will be towed if you park in there.
