OPEN HOUSE – ANNUAL TITLE 1 PARENT/FAMILY MEETING – 9th GRADE PARENT NIGHT Tuesday, 8/21 – 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

5:00 – 5:30         Annual Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement Meeting – Auditorium
5:30 – 7:00         Open House – School-wide
5:30 – 6:15          9th Grade Parent Workshop – 9th Grade Café
6:15 – 7:00          9th Grade Parent Workshop – 9th Grade Café (Repeat Session)

5:00 – 7:00         Computers and assistance will be available in the 9th Learning Lab to help parents/legal guardians have access to Parent Portal and also sign up for Free/Reduced Meals.


Beta Club:  Applications for 10-12th graders with an unweighted average of 90 or above are available outside room 902, the 300 Office, or the Principal’s Office.  Return to room 902 by Friday, 8/24.

FBLA:  Students interested in joining the Future Business Leaders of America may pick up an application outside room 311.

JGG:  Jobs for Georgia Graduates is enrolling students for this school year.  Meetings are daily in room 103 from 7:45 – 8:20 a.m.  All students interested are invited to the meetings.

Mock Trial:  Students interested in being on the Mock Trial team should attend a meeting tomorrow, 8/16, right after school in room 1104.

Science Olympiad: Science Olympiad will meet on Tuesday, 8/21, in room 715. There will be two possible meetings students can attend: morning (7:50 a.m.) and afternoon (3:50 p.m.) All returning members AND students interested in joining need to attend.


College Visits to Newnan High:  Georgia Tech will make a private visit to the Counseling Office on Wednesday, 8/29, from 12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Interested seniors need to sign up with Mrs. Sweatman.

Grade Level Parent Meetings:
Open House (all grades)/9th Grade Parent Night  8/21, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Cafeteria:  To qualify for free/reduced lunch, parents must turn in a new form every year.  If you did not receive a blue form in advisement, you may apply online at https://frapps.horizonsolana.com/welcome

Forms Return:  Students need to return all completed forms as soon as possible to their 2nd block teacher OR the first class they have here at Newnan High.

Parking:  ALL STUDENTS WHO DRIVE TO SCHOOL MUST HAVE A VALID 2018-19 PARKING PASS!  Student Parking Passes are being sold ($20) in the 100 Office. You may stop by before/after school or during lunch to pick up a Parking Pass Application.


9th Grade:  Attention Class of 2022!  If you would like to purchase a t-shirt for your Class of 2022 see Ms. Wells in the 9th grade office or Dr. Hurston in room 1106 for an order form.  All orders and payment are due back to Dr. Hurston by next Friday, 8/17.

10th Grade:  Any sophomore interested in purchasing a 10th grade t-shirt should see Mrs. Willey in room 303.


Softball:  Our varsity team continues its winning streak by beating Northgate 8-2 yesterday, 8/14.  Danielle Curlee and Alex Williams led the offense, and the team is now 5-0 on the season.

Girls Wrestling:  Any girl interested in being a part of a newly created all girls wrestling team that will compete in the first ever all girls state championship should see Coach Garner in room 1103 by 9/1.
