French

French I introduces the students to the language. The students learn many verbs, a wide range of vocabulary, and basic grammar rules. The immediate future tense and the past tense are introduced. The four communication skills are always emphasized: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In order to maximize the students' ability to speak French, French is spoken most of the time in the classroom. The students also learn about and gain appreciation for French speaking cultures.

The advanced classes are designed to review the grammar learned in French I and II as well as continue learning higher language and grammar concepts. Students taking a third, fourth or fifth year can receive college credit by taking a placement test at the college where they will attend. Please remember that what a student puts into the course(s) will be a main factor in how well he/she does on a college placement test.
Homework-
all classes
Students should expect a homework assignment each night. Students should also be prepared to study vocabulary every day. If you consistently spend 20 minutes at home on French, you will find yourself making good grades, increasing your communication skill level, and your comprehension in class will be high. Take pride in your work, develop good study habits, and do your own work! You will be pleased with your accomplishments.
