A-Team Field Trip

About sixty-five juniors and seniors from The Newnan High School A-Team participated in a field trip on Saturday, March 3rd. they first visited the High Museum of Art. while there, they were split up into groups and toured parts of the museum. Their tour guides, or docents, were knowledgeable about the art and helped the students and accompanying adults understand the history of the paintings. They viewed the standing collection for about an hour. Next, they explored the traveling exhibit of the Louvre with talking headsets. Club member Stephen Sprayberry said it was all very beautiful. Dr. Moore who accompanied the students said, "It was interesting because all of the students were not particularly art students, but they had a chance t explore authentic 200 to 300 year old paintings and learn from them artistically and historically."

After the High Museum tour, students enjoyed lunch at the world famous Varsity.

Dr. Barker joined the group at the Aquarium. They spent about two hours fascinated by the watery wildlife. Jenna Schnetzer said they even got to touch a shark while there.

Dr. Barker said that the trip was "intended to give students who work so hard academically at Newnan the opportunity to spend time together outside of school doing something enjoyable. They had truly earned it."
