State Wrestling Tournament

Newnan High School entered eight wrestlers into the State Tournament on February 14th through 17th. The Newnan team had one 2nd seed, two 3rd seeds, and five 4th seeds. Newnan had only three wrestlers return to the second day, as four wrestlers lost in the first two rounds on Thursday. The fifth wrestler missed Friday due to a death in the family. the three remaining wrestlers were Caleb Forbus, Andy Pope, and David Pope. David and Andy lost in the first round on Friday and were out of competition. Caleb won his first round but lost the second on Friday and was the final Newnan wrestler to be eliminated.

The wrestling season is over for Newnan now and the team will have a banquet on Thursday to celebrate the season. (Editor's note: The banquet was postponed due to inclement weather.)
