Exceptional Children's Week
The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts announces Exceptional Children's Week 2007, which will be held March 5th through 9th. This year's theme is "Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It."
A very special reception will be held in honor of all teachers, personnel, and parents as well as the exceptional children. The event will be held in conjunction with the celebration of the gallery opening of the Very Special Art Show. This event will be Tuesday, March 6th from 2:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The Very Special Art Show will take place March 6th through 19th. All exceptional students may participate. Two works per school will be chosen by school personnel for the gallery exhibit. The deadline to turn in artwork is Friday, February 9th. Requirements are for the artwork to be 9 x 12 or 12 x 16 in size, colored materials only such as cut paper, crayon, marker, tempera paint, colored pencil, oil, or pastel. The Very Special Talent Show will be Thursday, March 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This activity is for exceptional students of any age (including preschool), who are not participating in regular education statewide standardized testing but are participating in the Georgia Alternate Assessment. The deadline for participation is February 9th. All acts must be no longer than five minutes and must be approved by a teacher. The must be appropriate for all age groups. Performers must provide their own props, costumes, and music (CD). The following information must be submitted to Kristine Ryan at Welch Elementary: Name of student(s), school, teacher, and a brief description of performance and equipment.
