Black History Program
On Friday, February 16th, the SGA and some of Newnan Highs School students had their first Black History Program. Ms. Lucky acted as mistress of ceremony. Dr. Barker gave a welcome to those in attendance. Waneshia George and Tamya Bell sang "I Just Can't Give Up Now." Natasha Ward recited a poem by Maya Angelou "Still I Rise." Newnan High also had a very special guest--Supreme Court Justice Harold D. Melton. Mr Melton came to Newnan to explain how to break down boundaries in your life. After he spoke, there were a lot of questions from the students about his life.
This event was a very successful program, and I hope just a hint of more to come.
