Senior Play Is a Huge Success
The Newnan High School's 2007 senior play The Music Man was a huge success. The play premiered on April 28 and continued through May 1st in the Newnan High School auditorium.
The play is about a con artist who goes by the name of Professor Harold Hill (played by Joel Moseley). Professor Hill convinces the people of River City to buy band instruments and uniforms for a boys' band. Marion Paroo (played by Caitlyn Sweet) is the town librarian who does not trust Professor Hill. Professor Hill and Marion Paroo fall in love. In the end, a traveling anvil salesman (played by Brady Sumner) attempts to foil Professor Hill's scheme and turn the town against Professor Hill. The town demands that Professor Hill lead the band in a song. The band sounds awful, but the parents of the musicians love it and release Professor Hill. Professor Hill and Marion Paroo kiss for the first time, and the curtain closes.
The masterfully coordinated play was the result of efforts by producer Kathy Bizarth, director Bob Ramseur, choreographers Laura Prout and Justin Thompson, musical director Kathy Bizarth, conductor John Erdogan, scenic designer Tyra Elliot, costume designer Melanie Paerry, and sound coordinator John Riley. The play included very talented, dedicated actors from many different Coweta County schools. The set and props looked very professional and realistic and were changed seamlessly, will little distraction from the performance. The play was also complimented by the orchestra's accompaniment.
The 2007 senior play was a great production. All cast, crew, production, and coordinators should be congratulated on such well-earned success.
