Cougar Baseball Beats Morrow in 3 Innings
The Cougars ended their game Friday, April 13th in only three innings as they beat Morrow 18 - 1 at Joe Pope Field. Newnan scored thirteen runs in the second inning to turn a 5 - 0 lead into an 18 - 0 lead. The only run Morrow scored was in the last inning and did not help Morrow due to the Mercy Rule which ended the game in three innings.
The Cougars sent nineteen batters to the plate which hosted back-to-back triples by George Grote and Jesse Wierzbicki. The triples were followed by a two-run homer by Ryan Phillips. The homer hit the top of the fence in left center and bounced over. The first inning was also highlighted by another Cougar two-run homer over the centerfield wall.
Grote was held responsible for the defensive firepower. He only gave up one hit and one run in the third.
