GymCats Finish Third at State

The Newnan High GymCats competed in state recently and placed third. This event marks only the second year of high school competition for the team.

Newnan began the evening on the floor exercise and struggled with momentum. Elizabeth Davis had a floor score of 9.6, which brought the team back in focus. Davis would finish third in the floor exercise.

The girls dug in and landed nice vaults for the third rotation. these scores kept them in contention with favored Roswell, Milton, and defending champion Colquitt County.

The team had to count one routine with a fall on the beam, Chelsea Glory's 8.3. Kristin Pirie fought through her routine and earned a 9.0. Elizabeth Davis competed last and nailed a routine with a score of 9.765.

Chelsea was unable to compete in the Qualifier. She competed in Tupelo and made the National USAG Team. She will compete in Orlando, Florida, in a couple of weeks.
