Gymcats Gain Second Win at Sequoyah Invitational

The Newnan Gymcats defeated eight teams at the Sequoyah Gymnastics Invitational on March 9. They scored their highest score of the season with 109.15 points. Other teams at the invitational included Sequoyah, Northview, Etowah, Brantley County, Roswell, Camden County, and defending state champion Milton. The Gymcats beat Milton by 1.55 points.

Junior Chelsea Glory also scored a season high of 37.20. She scored a 9.5 on the vault, 9.3 on uneven bars, 9.2 on the balance beam, and 9.2 on the floor exercise. Junior Maureen Kookogey scored 9.5, 9.0, and 9.2 on the vault. On the uneven bars, Junior Kristen Pirie scored a 9.0, and Freshman Haley Todd scored an 8.9. Kristen Pirie also scored a 9/0 on the balance beam. Junior Elizabeth Davis scored an 8.5 on the balance beam.

The next meet was Saturday, March 17 at Sequoyah High School.
