The Harlem Gospel Choir

The city of Newnan will truly receive a blessing on February 25th. The Centre of Performing and Visual Arts will present the world famous Harlem Gospel Choir.

The choir is one of the most popular gospel choirs in the nation. The members travel the world for many reasons--including fund raising and spreading joy in the hearts of any listener they encounter.

In 1986, Allen Bailey got an idea while attending a celebration in remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. The choir is a combination of the finest singers and musicians from various black churches in Harlem. The theme of the performance is bringing people and nations together and giving something back by singing songs of hope and inspiration.

In 2006, the choir was recognized as Cultural Ambassadors of Harlem. The choir's 20th anniversary was last year, and they continue to go on spreading their good news.

Tickets will be sold for $15 for adults and $12 for students and senior citizens. The event will be held on February 25th at 3:00 p.m.
