Character Education Week in Review

Thanks to all class and SGA representatives for their participation in Character Education Week. The entire week was a success with a total of twenty-five teachers participating and about seventy activities being completed. We want to highlight some of the teachers who participated and the activities their classes did for Character Education Week.

COOPERATION was illustrated by Mrs. Wold's first block class. They used the periodic table of elements to spell out some of the Character Education words--which required the cooperation of all the students. Also, Ms. Gordon's class decorated posters and put them in the hallway.

KINDNESS was a word that Mrs. Benton/Mrs. Pokorski's class demonstrated when they typed a random list of kind acts and their students performed as many as possible--and they had to get the list signed by the person for whom the act was performed. Mrs. JoEllen Gordon played Pin-the-Heart-on-the-Cupid and did face painting for special needs students at Newnan High School. Mrs. Quesinberry's class wrote appreciation for the staff and delivered them with flowers attached.

PUNCTUALITY was shown by Mrs. Conlan's first block. Students were in class on time on Wednesday. Mrs. Britt's first block class also demonstrated punctuality; they placed a clock in the hallway encouraging everyone to be on time.

SCHOOL PRIDE participants were Mrs. Rooker/Ms. Charlesworth's first block. They cleaned up the campus, and Mrs. Toole's class put an art show in the hallway.

PATRIOTISM was a word that Mrs. Clifton's class portrayed. They demonstrated the word by decorating the door. Mrs. Sowerbrower's class sent can packages and wrote letters to soldiers.

RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT participants were Mrs. Hobbs' first block who decorated the door and hallway. Also, Mrs. Cleary's class wrapped recycle boxes for the English building that they used to collect paper to be recycled.

CITIZENSHIP was the word Mr. Maston's class chose to use in creating a Black history door with different quotes and appreciation for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

PATIENCE was illustrated by Mrs. Lotter's first block class, and they demonstrated patience during a game they played in class.

Special thinks goes to everyone who helped make this entire week a success. This year's event encompassed more participation than Newnan High has seen in three years.
