In My View--

Although the year 2008 seems so far away, the race for the presidency has already begun. Here at NHS, we have many students of or nearing the age to cast votes. It is important that we all vote in the 2008 election for the leader of our country. Over the next few weeks, the Cougar Chronicles will be highlighting presidential hopefuls for 2008. These articles are for students and adults to get to know the candidates a little better.

Roses and Thorns

Roses and Thorns is the section where students speak out about what they like and do not like, in essence, an opinion poll. Roses are given to the good things, and thorns are tendered to the not-so-good things.

Spotlight

"Spotlight" features teachers and students who stand out in various areas, from sports and academics to talents and activities outside of school. Our section incorporates students' ideas along with ideas of staff members on the Cougar Chronicles. Therefore, our section will vary from week to week as more students and faculty contribute.

Stand Out Student

"Stand Out Student" does not necessarily spotlight the best athlete or the student at the top of the class, but the student who excels in anything he or she does. Teachers and fellow students make recommendations for this section! The editors of "Spotlight" personally interview each recommendation and select students to be featured each week!

Teacher Feature

"Teacher Feature" highlights new teachers and outstanding teachers at NHS. It gives a chance for those new to school to introduce themselves and tell a little about their lives. It also recognizes teachers who do a lot for their students.

Special for Teacher Appreciation Week

This week in the spotlight section of the Cougar Chronicles we have decided to do something a little different. Usually in each issue we do a "Spotlight" of students and teachers, but this week for Teacher Appreciation Week we are doing a "Spotlight" on the Cafeteria and Custodial staff. There are two posters in the main lobby at the front of the school which is a collage of pictures of the Cafeteria and Custodial employees. I hope you enjoy the articles and posters! Also, a special thank you to Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Vickers, and Mrs. Britt for their assistance in this portion of the weekly issue.
