Homecoming News

Fans in the stands of Drake Stadium waited anxiously Friday night to hear the results of a week of hard work. All throughout the week of Homecoming, Newnan High Students worked on decorating doors with the theme "Punish the Patriots." Spirit points were given to classes each morning for teachers and students who dressed up for the five daily themes. Each grade level and elementary schools decorated floats for the parade in Newnan Friday afternoon. Each year different clubs go to work as well, painting windows of downtown Newnan. The winners for the various contests were as follows:

Door Decorating Contest:
1st place- Mrs. Britt's class
2nd place- Mr. Erdogan's class
3rd place- Mr. McCall and Mrs. Rooker's class
4th place- Mrs. Prout's class
5th place- Mr. McMurray's class

Spirit Competition:
1st place- Mr. JoEllen Gordon/Mrs. Dunn's class
2nd place- Mrs. Britt's class
3rd place- Mrs. Finger's class
4th place- Mr. Erdogan's class
5th place (which was a tie!)- Coach Rush/Mrs.Charlesworth's Class and Mrs. Brady's class

Parade Float Competition
*Elementary Floats-
1st place- Elm Street Elementary
2nd place- Northside Elementary
*High School Floats-
1st place- Freshman class
2nd place- (which was a tie!) Senior class and the Sophomore class
3rd place- Junior class

Downtown Window Decorating Contest:
1st place- Art Club (at Panoply's)
2nd place- French Club (at Scott's Bookstore)
3rd place- Spanish Club (at Quiznos)
