Commissioners Take Their Places

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners held their first meeting of the year on January 4.

The Board welcomed two new commissioners, Third District Commissioner Randolph collins and Second District Commissioner Tim Lassetter. Apart from the recognition of new members, Tim Higgins was elected chairman with Leigh Schlumper vice-chairman.

There has already been considerable change in protocol. The usual ceremony that takes place when a new chairman is elected was skipped because the last chairman could not attend the meeting. The time the meetings are held was changed as well from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

tim Higgins has made some promises about changes concerning what issues are heard first on the agenda and how the board looks at the various issues.
