Can-A-Thon
Well, Newnan High, we did it again! The student body, teachers, and staff raised 30,167 cans! We not only beat EC by almost 11,000 cans but also raised the most cans in the county!
This accomplishment was not an easy job, but with the hard work from our school, we did it. On behalf of SGA, we say thank you for all your hard work.
There were many activities that went on during Can-A-Thon that helped us to reach our goal. One of the biggest activities was our Can Blitz. Can Blitz was held during the week of the East Coweta and Newnan game. It was the week when we raised over 10,000 cans and that was a good start toward our goal. Other activities were the Penny Wars, teacher luncheon, walking around the football game, and different classes sold snacks to go toward the can count.
SGA helped out a lot just by keeping the school pumped up and very enthusiastic about bringing in cans. Almost every week an SGA officer went around and checked on the classes. This involvement helped the teachers and students by keeping them updated with what was happening.
SGA would like to send out a big thank you to the entire student body of Newnan High School, the teachers, and most of the principals. Also, we would like to thank Mr. McMurray for sending out all the e-mails and publicizing Can-A-Thon for us.
Once again, SGA would like to thank everyone for every can, and all the hard work you have done. Thank you for helping us reach our goals: beating EC, and most of all, helping our community.
