Coach Tim Britt
Coach Tim Britt has been coaching for forty years in many different high schools in Georgia and Alabama. He has coached at Cedar Bluff, Wheeler, Boaz, Anniston, Oxford, Osborne, and Newnan High Schools. He has taught numerous classes including World History, U.S. History, Government, Civics, Drivers' Education, A.P. European History, Physical Education, Consumer Math, English, Geography, Health, and Wood shop.
Coach Britt has coached with teams that won three state championships in Alabama--1988, 1989, and 1993. He says the most rewarding part of coaching is "seeing young people improve and, in come cases, do better than they should based on their physical ability." After many years of hard and great accomplishments, Coach Britt will be retiring from coaching this year.
Coach Herring has been working with Coach Britt for over twenty years. He said that his teams have won many games with Britt as the heart of the offense. He also said that Newnan will be losing a great coach, and moreover, he will be losing a best friend who will be deeply missed on the field.
Mrs. Britt had this to say about her husband's retirement, "I will finally have a husband after all these years!"
The Cougar Chronicles is sad to see such a great coach go but also is glad that a wonderful teacher will still be a part of the NHS faculty.
