Time to Fill Your Shoe Boxes

It's almost that time again! Time for Operation Christmas CHild to start being filled again. Operation Christmas Child is an outreach of Samaritan's Purse, a mission organization. Preparing for this mission is also a Coweta County tradition. Boxes from all over Coweta County, Bowdon, Bremen, Douglasville, Carrollton, Peachtree City, McDonough, Greenville, Stockbridge, and Griffin are sent to Unity Baptist Church's multipurpose building during collection week.

Last year's total of 29, 686 was only 314 short of the 30,000 box goal. This year's new goal will be raised to 32,000.

Volunteers purchase toys, stuffed animals, schools supplies and hard candy and place these items into shoe boxes or boxes of a similar size. Samaritans Purse asks for a $7 donation to cover the cost of sending the box overseas--although the boxes will be sent with or without the donation.

National collection week will be November 12th through he 19th. Unity hours will be Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until noon; and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
