Struggling Swans Rescued
Two injured swans were rescued by an inshore rescue boat in a lake in Somerset, England, after they were found to have swallowed fishing hooks. It was reported that both birds were in a state of distress when they were found by a walker who passed near them. A staff member from the Secret World Wildlife Centre at East Huntspill had made the call for the rescue boat. When the crew from Burnham Area Rescue Boat or BARB arrived at the scene, they realized that one of the swans has swallowed a hook and a line while the other one had a lump in its neck--most likely due to a fishing tackle.
BARB tried everything in their power to help the injured animals and now it has been reported that one of the swans has been released while the other one is still receiving treatment.
