Tax Holiday

Georgia's third annual "Energy Star" sales tax holiday began at 12:02 a.m. Thursday the 4th of October. The holiday's intentions were to encourage people of Georgia to buy appliances that have earned the Energy Star. To meet Energy Star standards, the product must pass strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy.

During the tax holiday, consumers can save money by not being charged state and local taxes on Energy Star qualified appliances. These appliances include dishwashers, clothes washers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, doors and windows. Most Energy Star appliances use 30 percent less energy than conventional models.

Take advantage of this tax holiday, and you won't regret it.
