Bridge Collapse Hero Offered Full Scholarship
Readers may remember Jeremy Hernandez, the 20 year old hero who saved sixty-one young lives when the bridge in Minneapolis collapsed in early August. His good deed is not going to go unnoticed.
Hernandez had to drop out of the automotive mechanic program at the Dunwoody School of Technology because he could not afford the annual $15,000 tuition. alumni and staff went straight to school officials when they heard this sad news.
"Universally, they said we need to do something for this guy," said Dave Jarzyna, a Dunwoody spokesman. "We're going to make sure that if he wants to come to Dunwoody, he'll have the resources to do that."
The school decided to give Hernandez a full scholarship for the remainder of his time in the program. There is no word yet on whether or not Hernandez will accept the offer, but if he does, the teachers already consider him to be at the top of his class.
