Iraqi Boy Rescued from Well
On Thursday, August 9th, a two year old Iraqi boy fell into a dry well near his home. The boy's father begged soldiers form the 1st cavalry division of Company B to rescue his son.
The child fell an estimated 25 feet to the bottom of the well. Captain David Powell and Staff Sergeant Roul Torres used a back hoe and some simple farming tools to dig a horizontal shaft to reach the boy. The whole process took about five hours.
Coalition medics checked the boy and found no serious injuries. The boy was then returned to his grateful parents, and the soldiers refilled the hole they had dug and returned to their posts.
